Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2...Speechless!

Some moments change you, some things influence you, but some things affect you so deeply, that you’re never able to change back. You stay there, lingering, never wanting for the moment to change, never wanting it to end.
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling has been that thing for me. As far as I remember, the proper novel I first read was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. So, in a way my childhood started when I started reading the Harry Potter series. Today, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 ended, it seemed as if my childhood had finished. Suddenly I was bigger, older. But, I’m one of the luckiest persons alive. I can revisit my childhood whenever I want just by reading those seven books again. I’ve read the entire series 7 times and the last book 8 times. But, never it seemed like the story was being repeated, I always learnt something new from the books. The Harry Potter series is a bible for many people, including me. And, I believe I wasn’t the only one who cried through the movie. I’m not ashamed to accept that I cried, rather I’m proud. Anyone who has read the books seriously would’ve cried, would’ve been speechless in the end when Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione wave their children off to Hogwarts…it was like the beginning of the first book (or movie, whatever). And when the movie finally ended…the feeling that ran through me! I tried speaking, but I couldn’t. My voice failed me. The atmosphere around me was full of emotions, and I couldn’t contain my tears.
I once read a quotation: "You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel as if you've lost a loved one." I felt like that when I turned the last page of Deathly Hallows. I also felt like that today, because I believe the same can be said for movies. "You know you've watched a good movie when it ends and feel as if you've lost a loved one."
J.K. Rowling, do you know you’ll have the most amazing afterlife anyone has ever had? That’s because you gave millions of people the most precious gift ever, and now they pray for you everyday.

I’ll now revisit my childhood....

21.12.2012...is it the end of the world?

A decade has passed since when we began wondering if the world would end in 2012. Many of us still ask each other, "Do you believe that the world would end in 2012, eh?" And, believe me – It is a HOT topic of discussion! Put up a status on Facebook about 2012 and you surely would get hundreds of comments.

The recent happenings make us more positive of the fact that the world would end in 2012. For instance…the earthquake which rocked Japan on 11th March. It was bloody 8.9 magnitude! Did you guys see the news videos? It was like watching 2012(the movie)! The island of Japan got displaced by 2.5 meters due west because of the Tsunami. This is what’s going to happen in 2012…Earth Crust Displacement! This has happened before. An apocalyptic crust displacement took place and it wiped out the most dangerous predators of that time, i.e., the Dinosaurs. And that happened before the Stone Age so man has no written records of it. It is believed to happen soon enough now, seeing the rising frequency of earthquakes and Tsunamis. And, this time the world’s most abundant and most dangerous predator or animal is the man. The Humans. The Homosapiens. Us.

No balls of fire will fall from the sky, no aliens will invade and attack us, no hydrogen bomb will explode, but the nature will take its revenge. Massive earthquakes, those which will make the Japan earthquake look like a chariot race on a bumpy road, will unleash. They will trigger tsunami. And, we poor humans won’t be able to do anything. No concrete arcs will be made by the Chinese (like those in the movie).

If an earthquake manages to explode 4-5 nuclear power plants of a country, it will take down half the continent down with itself. Now that’s apocalyptic!

Now don’t get me wrong that I want to die on 21.12.2012, it’s not like that. It’s better to face the truth than to be oblivious of it. There will be survivors for sure…mother earth isn’t that cruel! It will teach a lesson to humanity. The humans have been polluting the earth right to its core. I just hope that we all do our bit to avoid such a disaster.

And be cautious for New Delhi is situated on the world’s most unstable tectonic plate. It’s over the merging point of two plates. This is the reason why you don’t see any skyscraper in the city of New Delhi – the soil and the plate just can’t support that much weight. According to scientists the natural frequency of the plate of New Delhi is a bit lower as compared to other regions of India. If an earthquake of 6.5-7.5 strikes the city, I’m very sorry to say that the city won’t survive!

Make the most of the last year of your lives.

I won’t say have a good day, but I will say DO YOUR BIT TO SAVE THE EARTH!

A World Without FACEBOOK...

Have you ever wondered of a world where facebook doesn't exist? Well, truthfully speaking, even I haven't. But it's not hard to imagine. You can let your imagination FLY!
Whenever I have a doubt in studies or in the syllabus, I just post a status and all my friends help me clear the doubt. If facebook wasn't there, I would've to call and
ask each and everyone of my friends for the same thing. We're so addicted to facebook these days that we don't even remember what time it is. Facebook is on our mobile
so that we can access it while we're travelling. I always 'facebook' while I'm in the traffic...time passes by so soon and easily. Yes, FACEBOOK is now a verb, just
like google is. You might've heard someone say 'Don't worry...just Google it!', but these days you will hear people say 'My name is Shrish...Facebook me!'.
Gone are the days when friendship used to start when we used to meet someone. These days we become friends on facebook first, talk on the phone next and then we meet.
I have a lot of friends on facebook with whom I chat and talk, but I've never ever met them.
Basically, in a world where facebook doesn't exist you'd see people scribbling on other people's walls, writing quotes and what they're doing on their own walls, et cetera.
People will have so much free time in that world that they'll get super-bored with their lives and consider suicide (I'm totally against the idea of suicide myself). In that world
we wouldn't get to watch a superb movie named 'The Social Network'.
So, do you wanna live in a world where facebook doesn't exist? I don't!

The Advantages and Disadvantages of FREE MESSAGING...

With the advancement of technology in communication, one advantage is that you can talk to a person without actually talking to the person.
I know the above line was a bit confusing, but it meant that you can simply message your friend rather than calling and talking, straining your
already overstrained 'vocal chords'. I do a lot of messaging myself, and I like it. But sometimes it gets too irritating when the message beep
of your phone keeps ringing every 10 seconds.
And, now the latest scheme of the telecom companies is that you get to do 21000 free messages in a month on a recharge of only Rs.88. This scheme
is beneficial to me, I wouldn't lie. But at the same time its very irritating. Its like they give you 21000 Rupees to spend and you try to spend
each and every rupee, so that you can buy more and more. But is it really necessary to use all of the 21000 messages? I've a friend named SANYAM.
He's in tenth class and he messages like a machine. He sends 50 messages daily, all PJ's or Rajneekant jokes. I mean how irritating it is when
your actually trying to concentrate in your studies or when your reading a novel with full concentration and your message beep rings, and what
you see is a RAJNEEKANT JOKE!
These Rajneekant PJ's are getting on my nerves and I'm soon gonna rain the mobile of the person with PJ's who sends me another Rajneekant joke.
Oh Jesus...I drifted away from the topic. Sorry. Yea, so the advantages of messaging are endless, so are the disadvantages.
You can freely coverse with your friends anytime you want by calling, but when you are sitting in some serious religious ceremony and you're
getting bored then what comes to your rescue? A. Messaging. And remember, our coaching classes would be a lot more boring if there was no messaging.
So, you got the advantages of messaging, eh?
Disadvantages are that instead of calling your mum/dad, you start messaging them too. And the BIGGEST DISADVANTAGE are the CHAIN MESSAGES.
I've ignored about a 100 chain messages which swore that I would die if I ignore it, but here I am...still ALIVE!!! Other disadvantages
include recieving messages when your head is aching like someone has hammered it with their full strength.
So, you got the disadvantages too, eh?
Blah Blah...

Dr. Abdul Kalam's letter to every Indian.

Dr. Abdul Kalam's letter to every Indian.
Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?
We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transformed the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.
In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T.Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.
Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.
Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours..
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?
Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are.. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity… In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai .. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand ..
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India ?
In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan ..
Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.
When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.
Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.
Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too…. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..
'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'
Lets do what India needs from us.
Post this note on your profile and tag your friends. It should reach each and every INDIAN.
Thank you,
Dr. Abdul Kalam

Have I made the right choice?

I often ask myself "Have I made the right choice?" and I'm unable to answer myself. I chose Science with Economics in class XI. I wanted to opt for Engineering Drawing, but because of parental pressure and my elder sister's advice I was made to opt for Economics. Economics is easy. Nothing to mug up, just simple facts. But, statistics is a blunder. You've got to make a thousand graphs. It's tiresome.
One day I was reading a novel which had a very respectable doctor in it and then I realised that I wanted to be a doctor. I wished I'd opted for Biology. Then again one day I was watching 'The Social Network' and I wanted to be a programmer. That day (which is today) I wished I'd opted for Computer Science.
How can I be interested in all the things at once? Is it possible to do everything in one small life? I've heard it is possible. You just need to be dedicated, a lot. But in my case it wouldn't be possible, because my dedication is not of the highest degree. But still I want to get the joy of everything. I will probably make a good engineer (hopefully). And guess what? The main decision isn't made right here. When you get into college, you get to choose which engineering you want to opt for. And, once again I will face the same dilemma. Once again I will get to choose what I want to be. I just hope I make the right choice then.
This article is for my juniors. Don't worry if you make the wrong choice now. This is the time to choose wrong. Just remember to choose the correct stream, because you can't migrate from commerce to science.
Bye-Bye!
